But if you ever want to know what national moving company not to use, well I’ve got one. Some of our Az movers were crabby that day, and well they need Jesus, but we are getting along fine. They even delivered a basketball goal pole that had someone else’s name on it, but we didn’t get ours. We will probably never know if we actually got all our stuff. In just the first load there were 150 boxes that weren’t tagged with inventory numbers. It took two semi loads to bring our stuff from storage because it is all packed away in these crate things. It didn’t exactly go smoothly, mostly because the packers/movers on the TN end were yahoos. The moving truck came on Monday with everything that has been in storage. But other than the studio, we got every room done before furniture needed to be moved in. And I will have to finish a second coat on my art studio and the laundry room. We had to do second coats and touch ups on two of the kids rooms. Ben helped paint too when he could, and our Life Group came over Sunday night to help us meet our deadline of having it done before the moving truck came Monday morning. So last week I spent approximately 80 hours painting. There is just not the budget to do everything I want to do! I could actually use a handyman on retainer for the next two months. But in the end I decided that I’d rather use the money on light fixtures. There was much internal debate on whether or not to do it ourselves or hire it out, and what colors to use. I could have had the house painted in my color choices for half that. We chose not to pay $4000 to upgrade to “two-tone paint,” which means they would paint the entire house one color that I could choose from four shades of beige. With the signing of our names a thousand times, we got white walls. Yay! After five and a half months of temporary living situations, it feels nice to have a place to call home. The last few weeks have been consumed with new house stuff. Baby Girl's room is a bit on the dark side, so I'm going to go with Sea Salt.Īnd voila! We have a paint color! Woo hoooooo!!! Since Restoration Hardware is an hour away, and Sherwin Williams is about a block away and I really like their paint, I'm going to go with the SW on this one. I'm thinking that the Silver Sage is right between Comfort Gray and Sea Salt. They're gorgeous!! In fact, I've had Comfort Gray on my list ever since I saw it on The Nester's blog in her front room with the giant plate wall. Okay, maybe just to me, but I've seen these colors around a lot. You know this strip, right? It has Oyster Bay on it. Something like many beautiful blogs with beautiful rooms who have been using paints from the same paint chip strip. I mean, beyond the fact that I just saw it in the inspiration photo. In fact, I'm noticing as I am looking at it, that it seems familiar somehow. Isn't it fantastic? It's so soft and barely greenish-blueish and just beautiful. So, I called up Restoration Hardware and ordered myself a fan deck, and now I have in my hot little hands, a paint chip of "Silver Sage." Wanna take a guess as to which color it was? Which I thought was really, really interesting, since years back when I had that genius designer lady who told me about the new look of track lighting (and saved my hiney on my old kitchen) she ALSO told me about an amazing, fabulous, paint color that I should keep on my list of must-do paint colors. It's Restoration Hardware, "Silver Sage." So, speaking of that absolutely gorgeous inspiration room, the lovely woman who actually owns that absolutely gorgeous inspiration room, Amy McGee from McGee Life, was kind enough to tell me the name of the paint color on the walls. Vintage houses, amiright? Anyway, we are back in business. Then we had a big ole' break because we had to handle some electrical work. If you recall, when we last left our intrepid designer (that would be *ahem* me), she had just had her client (that would be the two-year-old) select a color palette (pale greenish-blue, lavender and pink) and an inspiration room (which, incidentally, is also pale greenish-blue, lavender and pink).
